Meditations on Kindness
For the last week or so, the Lord has been reminding me of His lavish kindness to me. A dear friend mentioned what she perceived as God’s kindness in her life, and since then, He has kept showing me all the ways He has blessed me and others with His generous and kind spirit.
I have seen it in His creation this week; I mean, did you see that full moon!?
I have seen it as my body continues to heal and sustain me as I push myself in the gym to regain my losses.
I have seen it in the way He both convicted and encouraged me in my spirit to remain steadfast in an area I had begun to become cynical about.
I have seen it in the prayers and gestures of those coming alongside someone grieving.
Last and most importantly, I have seen it as I read about the kindness of Jesus in the Gospels over the last few weeks.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You.
Psalm 63:3
Getting to know Jesus of the Bible is knowing kindness in the flesh. It’s often hard for us to admit, but every good thing in our life is a manifestation of His loving kindness. Did you know that any kindness that comes from you is only because of Him?? Kindness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, and it was placed in you to remind others of God! His beautiful kindness comes to rest on us when we surrender our lives to Him, which is the powerful, redeeming gift we all desperately need.
God’s kindness is powerful - it changes things, makes us whole, redeems us, and gives us new life! I find He is actively working to make Himself known. So, as we head into a season meant to remind us of His kindness to us, let’s each ask for a double portion. The world is waiting!
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:4-7
