Meditations
Hey Friend! How does time pass so fast? Truly, I am humbled at how the days, weeks, and months seem to slip through my fingers year after year.
I’m a day late getting this missive out to you as I’ve been contemplating and reconsidering how I do things in my studio practice, business and ministry. This is something I do every year around this time as I consider the New Year ahead. I try to think about what things are giving me life, robbing me of peace, and, most importantly, what God’s grace is falling upon in this season.
I know you’ve probably heard the old Yiddish proverb, “we make plans and god laughs”. Well, there is certainly wisdom in this expression. It is always my goal to humbly evaluate who I am now, who I want to be in the future and how God tells me to order my life; I want whatever I do to be at the center of His will, and that begins with submitting my whole, entire life in humility to Him and His Word.
Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches and honor and life.
Proverbs 22:4
You see, I don’t want God to laugh at my plans. I want Him to be like, “Yes, and Amen, my daughter, that is exactly what I have in mind for you!”
The world would have us endlessly and frantically chasing money, followers, degrees, and titles in our own power, but God values kindness, integrity, humility, and generosity. The scripture above tells us the wages of humility are “riches and honor and life.” If humility before God and others earns me that, I’m all in! How about you?
xoxo,
Michelle
