Crux means the essential part of something, the heart of the matter. The word also points us to the cross.
That is where the name The Lovely Crux began for me. Because underneath what most often occupies our attention, there is something far more important: knowing God, trusting Him, and learning to live our lives with Him.
Why I Created The Lovely Crux
So much of my own life is spent seeking to know God more deeply through Scripture, prayer, reading, creating, and relationships with other believers. And when the Lord teaches me something, encourages me, or gives me something that has helped me, my natural inclination is to share it.
The Lovely Crux grew out of that desire.
It isn’t intended to be another source of spiritual information or checklist to keep up with. It’s simply a place where I can share more personally and regularly from my own walk with God in hopes that something He is using in my life might encourage you in yours.
The Weekly Pause
Each Saturday, TLC members receive The Weekly Pause.
These are intentionally small touchpoints for the week. There isn’t a rigid format because I want to leave room to share what is genuinely meaningful in the moment.
You might find:
a short reflection or teaching from something I’m learning in Scripture
a prayer for the week ahead
a song that has been drawing my attention toward God
a book, podcast, or resource worth sharing
something I’m learning about prayer, faith, relationships, or following Jesus
a visual meditation or something emerging from the studio
a simple question or practice to carry with you
Some weeks there may be more to say. Others may be quite simple.
The point isn’t more content - just a small weekly opportunity to turn our attention toward God and encourage one another to keep walking faithfully with Him.
The Monthly Meditation
Once a month, I also share a longer Monthly Meditation rooted in Scripture and something the Lord has been bringing to my attention.
Monthly Meditations are part of the wider Art + Soul publication and are available to both free and paid subscribers. As a TLC member, you’ll receive those alongside your Weekly Pauses and the monthly Art + Soul Newsletter.
A Little More About the Name
Crux
Noun | the most essential part of something; the heart of the matter
The word also refers to the cross, where grace and redemption meet.
For me, The Lovely Crux is a reminder to keep returning to what matters most.
It doesn’t mean having all the answers, getting our lives perfectly ordered, or accumulating more spiritual knowledge.
It’s really just all about Jesus.
Knowing Him. Trusting Him. Becoming more attentive to His Word and His presence. Learning to follow Him faithfully from the exact places He’s planted us.
Come Join Me
If Art + Soul has encouraged you and you’d like to receive a more personal touchpoint each week, I’d love to have you join me in The Lovely Crux.
You don’t need to begin at the beginning or keep up with everything I’ve written. Come as you are, read when you have room, and take with you what is helpful.
More than anything, my hope is that our time here helps us know God more deeply and love Jesus more.
