Grace for the Gap

My Dear one,

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, I should be further along by now?

Maybe you expected more progress, more clarity, more healing. But instead, you find yourself somewhere in between—the now and the not yet. The dream and the fulfillment. The promise and the harvest.

This in-between space can feel frustrating, even faith-shaking.
But it’s also where God often does His deepest work. I know, I know—not easy to hear.

This week in The Lovely Crux, we’re leaning into the grace that meets us in the gap—the space between striving and surrender, disappointment and trust.
Because His grace doesn’t wait for the finish line.
It meets us on the journey.

+ A Gentle Beginning

Pause for a breath prayer.

Inhale: “Even here...”
Exhale: “You are with me.”

Repeat slowly for one minute. Let the tension in your face and body soften.

+ Scripture Meditation

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
—2 Corinthians 12:9

What if the goal isn’t to close the gap, but to abide within it—trusting that God is not in a hurry and His power is still at work, especially in your weakness?

You may be tempted to feel there are gaps too wide for Him to close or that nothing or no one can change the situation. Resist your unbelief and remember you serve a God who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

This is the crux: God doesn’t wait until you’ve arrived to meet you—He pours out grace right where you are, in the sacred space between longing and fulfillment.

+ Beauty Reflection (Visio Divina)

Set your eyes on this image of a bridge. You can see where it begins, but not where it ends.

Let yourself rest in the image.

Ask:

  • Where am I on this bridge right now?

  • Am I fixated on the part I can’t see—or am I invited to take just the next step?

  • Can I trust God to guide me through the unseen?

Remember: fog doesn’t stop the bridge from being there.
It simply invites trust in the One who sees through it all.

Let the image remind you that God’s grace doesn’t vanish in uncertainty—it carries you through it.

+ Prayer Prompts (for your journal, your prayer time, or your heart)

Use these to guide your prayer or journaling:

  • Lord, I’m standing in the gap between ______ and ______.

  • Help me release the need to rush forward.

  • Meet me in the middle ground—with grace, patience, and peace.

  • Remind me that Your strength is steady even when my path feels shaky.
